Is a post-secular worldview calling forth a new Western cultural spiritual arc? The term spiritual arc may cause angst for some readers. Therefore, it is worth further explanation.

The term spiritual
Spirituality involves both intention and practice. Within Western societies spiritual intention and practice relate particularly to the personal experience of inner transformation. However, at certain times within a culture's history, the call is for collective inner transformation; the call is for a shift in the cultural mindset. Western societies are living through such a time. A shift in mindset is also the work of spiritual intention and practice, in the form of reimagining a new cultural identity. The term arc
Arc here refers to a new context that is dynamic and open to new possibilities. An arc is part of a circle, but whereas a circle represents infinity with no beginning nor end, an arc represents a part of a circle that does have a beginning and end. A new cultural spiritual arc, therefore, is like an open door to new perspectives regarding our human identity and belonging in the world today.
